Top 20 travel agent* has added a holiday alerts facility to its website enabling users to receive weekly updates on their holiday search results direct into their inbox.

The holiday alerts tool means users no longer have to spend excessive time browsing numerous travel agent or price comparison sites, trawling through search results and comparing the best deals. sales director Matthew Flint stressed the value of the new feature:

With nearly 30 million UK adults now online, travel is one of the largest sectors where information is researched and purchased online. A recent report from finance website confirmed that 36% of Brits spend at least 10 hours researching their perfect holiday before going on to book.

Matthew Flint added: “This feature enables users to get the latest holiday offers emailed directly to them. The holiday alerts feature is something our visitors will find invaluable, searching for holidays based on their own specific criteria and delivering the best selections right into their inbox. Best of all, it’s simple to use and unobtrusive.”

directline– visitors who search for their holidays are now presented with the option to receive weekly email updates on their search results with the option to click ‘email me holidays like these’. The user then selects the holiday alerts criteria, which can specify as little or as much information as preferred. Possible criteria includes the holiday destination based on region or resort, the departure airport or region, the date of departure (including up to 1 to 7 days later), the number of nights and rooms required, a breakdown of room occupants, (i.e. number of adults vs. children), the chosen board basis and finally a minimum star rating. Users can also name their alerts so they can have more than one running simultaneously and nominate the day of the week they would like to receive the email. The alert does not require any registration or personal details from the user and only an email address is required.

The holiday alerts tool is likely to benefit those who place a high value on researching their holidays online before purchasing. Many of whom visit multiple holiday sites for the best options, or visit sites like to browse deals from all the major tour operators in one place.
